Damoh (Madhya Pradesh) | October 28, 2023 4:20:28 PM IST
Hitting out at Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday said that the state government led by BJP has given just 21 jobs in the last three years.

The Congress leader, while addressing a public gathering in Damoh said that youth are having degrees but not employment.

"Have you ever thought that today the unemployment in our country is the highest in 45 years? The Madhya Pradesh government here has provided 21 jobs in the last three years. It is a sad situation that the state government which has been in power for the past 18 years, is such a poor job creator," she said.

Priyanka said that the government has handed over the Public Sector Units, means to generate employment, to its industrialist friends.

"The youth are educated, have degrees but there are no recruitments...So there is no recruitment from one side, (and on the other) the posts are vacant and are not getting filled. The means of creating employment, Public Sector Units (PSUs), have been handed over to their industrialist friends," she added.

Noting the passage of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, in Parliament, the Congress leader said that the bill which promises 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures will not be implemented in the coming 10 years.

"Modi government is just doing 'Eventbaazi' (busy in events) regarding women's reservation. They are misleading the country that we have given reservation to women. But the truth is that women's reservation will not be implemented in the coming 10 years," Priyanka added.

Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to undergo polls on November 17.

Banking on anti-incumbency, the grand old party is bidding to unseat the Shivraj government.

The counting of votes will take place on December 3.

The Congress party has announced its candidates for all 230 seats in the state for upcoming assembly polls scheduled to be held next month.

The party has announced the names of candidates in its three lists - 144 candidates in the first list, 88 candidates, including the replacement of three candidates in the second list and a single name in its third list.

Apart from this, the Congress party has replaced the candidates on seven seats so far in the state for upcoming assembly polls.

In 2019 Congress had emerged as the single largest party in the state with 114 seats and 41.5 per cent vote share. Kamal Nath was sworn in as chief minister but soon lost power to a rebellion led by now-Union Minister Jyoiraditya Scindia. (ANI)
