Ahead of the Mizoram Assembly elections, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar will visit the state on Thursday to conduct public meeting with representatives of communities.
Union Minister of State Chandrashekar is one of the key campaigners of BJP for the Mizoram Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on November 7. The Minister will hold public meetings in Saiha and Mamit districts, where he will interact with the leaders and representatives of communities. During these public meetings, Chandrasekhar will highlight the remarkable progress India has made over the past nine years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will underscore India's swift trajectory towards becoming the world's third-largest economy and, significantly, spotlight Mizoram's untapped potential. The Minister will also emphasize that, for the first time in Independent India's history, the Central Government has lifted the North East from the fringes, ushering in a new era of development and growth for the region. It is worth mentioning that Saiha was designated as one of the country's 250 most backward districts by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in 2006, entitling it to funding from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGF). Meanwhile, Hacchek, situated in Mizoram's Mamit district, stands as one of the three assembly constituencies, holding the status of an "aspirational district." Chandrasekhar has been at the forefront of highlighting the transformation witnessed in the North East region during his previous visits. He has underscored the region's increasing appeal to investors and championed the accelerated development of the region's youth. Skill training initiatives and enhanced physical and digital connectivity have played pivotal roles in catalyzing the potential of Mizoram. In a 40-member Mizoram assembly, the Mizo National Front bagged 26 seats with a vote share of 37.8 per cent to emerge victorious in the 2018 polls. The Congress secured five seats and BJP won one seat. Polls will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30. The counting of votes will take place on December 3 in all the states. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of poll dates. The elections to five states are crucial as they are being held months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year. (ANI)
