A Delhi Home Guard constable was killed after his police vehicle was hit by an auto-rickshaw at Baba Haridas Nagar in the national capital's Najafgarh area, police said on Tuesday.
As per the information received, the accident took place at Dichaun Road on the intervening night of October 22 and October 23. The injured constable, Dharam Pal, was rushed to RTRM Hospital in Jaffarpur Kalan where he was declared brought dead, said police. According to information the constable was on posted on duty at Baba Haridas Nagar police emergency response vehicle (ERV) in Dwarka. The officials further informed that a daily diary regarding the accident of ERV with the tempo was lodged by Assistant Sub Inspector Mahesh in Baba Hari Das Nagar police station. A case has been registered into the matter under sections 279 and 304A of IPC and the accused tempo driver has been arrested, said police. Earlier, in September, a 27-year-old man died after getting hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Nand Nagri area of North-East Delhi. "The body of the deceased was found on the road opposite ITI, Nand Nagri. It is a case of hit and run. No public witness was found at the spot," said police. In September a sub-inspector succumbed to his injuries and the driver of a police van sustained serious injuries after an allegedly speeding car hit them while they were on routine patrolling duty in Pandav Nagar area of the national capital The deceased was identified as Gangasaran, posted as a sub-inspector with Delhi Police, was hit by a speeding car from behind at National Highway 9. In July this year, a Delhi Police inspector was allegedly killed after his car was hit by a truck from behind in the national capital. The incident took place on Rohtak Road, near Madipur metro station. The policeman's car had stopped due to some mechanical problem and the deceased was standing outside on the road when his car was reportedly hit by the truck. The deceased was identified as Inspector Jagbir Singh of Delhi Police. He was posted in the Security Unit. Officials of the Delhi police said that the truck driver left the truck and fled from the spot. (ANI)
