On the occasion of Maha Navami Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited several pandals in the Pandu area of Guwahati.

The Chief Minister offered prayers and interacted with the people and said he had prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.

"The festival marks the triumph of good over evil. Our country should be victorious over evil forces," he said.

He lauded the artisans who construct pandals.

"Thoroughly impressed by the skills of Assam's fine craftsmen and craftswomen. The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma scheme is meant precisely to help augment and monetise such talent," he said in a post on X.

The ninth day of Navratri is also celebrated as Maha Navami. Devotees of Goddess Durga worship Goddess Siddhidatri on this day.

Fairs, with swings and slides and food stalls, are organised in different parts of the country during Navaratras. Families witness 'Ramlila' and soak in the festive atmosphere with children participating in games and witnessing other shows organised at these fairs.

Navami is followed by Dussehra, which marks the triumph of the good over the evil. (ANI)
