Tripura CM Manik Saha visited several Durga Puja pandals in the state capital, Agartala, on the occasion of 'Maha Ashtami' on Sunday.

CM Saha visited Durga Puja pandals of almost all shapes, sizes and budgets in different areas of Agartala and was pictured mingling and exchanging views with club members in the city.

As he hopped from one pandal to another, devotees and revellers were seen rubbing shoulders with the CM even as they offered prayers to the deity.

The chief minister even indulged in clicking selfies with members of local clubs and Puja committees.

The eighth day of the Navratri festival is dedicated to the eighth form of Maa Durga -- Maa Mahagauri, a symbol of purity, serenity, and tranquillity.

Maha Ashtami, commonly known as Ashtami, is widely observed throughout the country. This auspicious day is devoted to Maa Mahagauri, one of Maa Durga's nine avatars. It is also called as Durgashtami by those who observe Durga Puja and is one of the most significant days of the long celebrations. On this day, people also perform Kanya/Kumari Puja or Kanjak.

The festival of Navratri honours the defeat of the demonic Mahishasura and the triumph of good over evil. The 10th day of Sharad Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami. (ANI)
