The supporters of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's nephew and former minister Anoop Mishra staged a protest after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not give a ticket to their leader from Gwalior South assembly constituency in the district.

The supporters gathered outside the house of former minister Mishra and protested against the BJP on Saturday soon after the party announced the fifth list of 92 candidates for the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly polls. The party has fielded Narayan Singh Kushwaha from the seat.

The supporter said, "The party gave ticket to Narayan Singh Kushwaha from Gwalior South Assembly seat whereas Mishra is a senior leader and comes from a long background of BJP politics. We were full of hope that Mishra ji would get a ticket from the seat. We all oppose CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bharatiya Janata Party and its impact will be seen in the result of elections."

During this, the supporters also raised slogans against CM Chouhan and the BJP government.

On the other hand, Mishra said that it was the decision of the party and he was with the party. Though the anger among the supporters is natural.

"It is the party's decision. The anger among the supporters is natural. I am also sad but the party's decision is acceptable. I am a very old worker of Bharatiya Janata Party. I come from a long background of BJP politics. Whenever the party has given me any work, I have always done it. Even today I am with the party," Misra said.

Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, BJP candidate from the seat Narayan Singh Kushwaha said, "Earlier also I was MLA from Gwalior South seat and continuous development work was done. During the 2018 assembly polls, I lost only by 121 votes for some reason but the work of development was not stopped and would not stop in future as well."

When asked about Anoop Mishra being upset after ticket denial from the same seat, the BJP candidate said, "Anoop Mishra is our senior leader. Certainly every person has hope but he is with the party and will be with us in the elections. It is natural that there will be resentment for some time but after some time we will all become united."

Madhya Pradesh will go to the assembly polls on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. (ANI)
