Mandla (Madhya Pradesh) | October 21, 2023 9:15:52 PM IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded a woman candidate and former Rajya Sabha MP Sampatia Uike from Mandla assembly constituency in the district by holding the ticket of sitting BJP MLA Devsingh Saiyam for the forthcoming assembly polls.

The BJP on Saturday evening released its fifth list of 92 candidates for the assembly polls and now the party has declared candidates for 228 out of 230 seats. It is yet to declare candidates for Guna (Scheduled Caste) and Vidisha seat.

After getting the ticket to contest election, Uike expressed her gratitude to the central leadership and state leadership and claimed that the BJP would win all three assembly seats in the district.

"The way BJP talks about women's reservation, it does as well. The Congress only speaks but does not act. I will go to each village and locality to talk about the development of the BJP. I will go among the public along with public welfare schemes," Uike said.

The BJP candidate further said that the MLA had done very good work and she would complete the development work that had been left. She also claimed that the BJP would win all the three assembly seats in the district.

On the other hand, sitting BJP MLA Dev Singh Saiyam who is not among the party candidate said that the decision of the national leadership was universally accepted, therefore the party's decision was supreme and he accepted it.

"The decision of our national leadership is universally accepted, therefore the party's decision is supreme, we accept it. Although I am considered the winning candidate from here, because I had won the lost seat also. But the party has made a decision and given the ticket to Sampatia Uike, so I accept and respect the party's decision," he added.

Madhya Pradesh will go to the polls on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. (ANI)
