Dausa (Rajasthan) | October 20, 2023 11:48:01 PM IST
In a warm-up to the political slugfest in the poll-bound state Rajasthan, BJP leader Diya Kumari hit the Congress-led Ashok Gehlot government over the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

She also slammed AICC Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who visited Dausa on Friday and questioned her time of visit ahead of upcoming assembly polls.

Talking to ANI about her visit to the state, BJP candidate from Vidhyadhar Nagar and MP Diya Kumari said, "I would like to question Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, why is she visiting Rajasthan now that the elections have started."

Expressing resentment at the grand old party's past demeanour in the state, BJP candidates said that law and order have become zero under the governance of Congress in the state.

"There have been several incidents of women atrocities in Rajasthan, as a woman leader from the Congress party, where have you been for the last five years? Whenever any incident of women atrocity happened in Rajasthan, did you visit them, did you even try to meet the victim's family? Not at all, atrocities against women are at an all-time high, and law and order have become zero in Rajasthan. Why did you not show up before the elections?" added Diya Kumari.

The BJP also took a dig at leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and raised several questions on her whereabouts during the women atrocities in the state.

"Priyanka Gandhi Vadra comes to visit Ranthambore for a family holiday but whenever there are incidents of women's atrocities happening here, she is nowhere to be seen. She says "Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon", aren't the women of Rajasthan humans?

"Congress has no right to remain in power now, forget about asking for votes," she added.

Another BJP candidate from Jhotwara, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also slammed the Congress and said that the grand old party makes false promises and claims.

"Congress has accepted defeat in Rajasthan, be it Ashok Gehlot or his senior leadership. They did not do any work in Rajasthan. We have heard that Priyanka Vadra is coming here to visit Ranthambore but in 5 years she never met the rape victims. This is the reality of their big statements. This is the Congress that makes false promises and many other claims, they are all hollow claims and promises," Rathore told ANI.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed a public rally in Dausa district on Friday as part of the party's awareness campaign on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).

This is Priyanka's second outing in this election season as she addressed a public meeting in Tonk, a constituency represented by party leader Sachin Pilot on September 9.

"During the last assembly elections of Rajasthan, the Prime Minister had promised to declare the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as a national project. Since then, the state government kept sending proposals again and again, Ashok Gehlot wrote a dozen letters to them, but the central government kept ignoring the problems of the people of Rajasthan," Vadra posted on X.

"There is anger among the people of Rajasthan regarding this breach of promise. Today I will address the people of the state from Sikrai in the Dausa district and seek their affection and blessings," she added.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party released its first list of the 41 candidates for the elections. The names of the candidates were finalized at a meeting of its Central Election Committee (CEC) that was chaired by the BJP President JP Nadda on October 1.

BJP has fielded Rajyavardhan Rathore, an MP from Jhotwara, while another MP Diya Kumari has been fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar.

Baba Balaknath has been fielded from Tijara and Kirodi Lal Meena from Sawai Madhopur.

Elections will be held in the five crucial states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram between November 7 and 30, and the results will be declared on December 3, the Election Commission said.

All 200 seats in Rajasthan will see voting on November 23. (ANI)
