Manipur police celebrates 132th Raising Day

Manipur Police celebrated the 132th Raising Day and stressed on precise and public friendly policing, a press release said on Thursday. The event was held at the First Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.

The statement underlined that the remarkable characteristics of the Manipur Police are that it is used to hard work, hardships and deprivations and shown itself as a resilient and disciplined force.

"We are now emphasizing on precise and thorough investigations and public friendly policing. As we recollect our past achievements, we rededicate ourselves in the service of the people of Manipur and the Nation," the statement added.

The statement said the Manipur police Department had instituted an inter-battalion competition from the year 2016 in celebration of the 125th anniversary of Manipur Police.

This year the DGP Running Trophy for the Best Battalion 2023 was won by 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, the release said.

It had also instituted an annual inter-district competition for the Best Police Station and Best Police Officer in the year 2016.

Chief Minister Biren Singh was the Chief Guest at the event. Rajeev Singh, DGP of Manipur was also present. In his message the Chief Minister congratulated the state police force and praised them for their commitment.

"Today, we celebrate the commitment of our police personnel who work tirelessly to maintain law and order, combat crime, and promote a sense of security among our citizens. I congratulate the Manipur Police on their Raising Day, and look forward to witnessing the force's continued dedication to our state" the Chief Minister said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, at the sidelines of the raising day Chief Minister N Biren Singh spoke on rehabilitation of people displaced during Manipur violence.

"Rs 10 lakhs are being given to build pucca houses for houses that were destroyed, Rs 5 lakhs are for building kachha houses. It is the CM Support Scheme. There are many schemes...That is another package. Each and every distressed family will be facilitated with 'One Family One Livelihood'. This can be increased up to Rs 10 Lakhs. That will be definitely provided by the Government" the Chief Minister said.

According to the Chief Minister's post on X "Construction of 28 strips of prefabricated houses at T Bethlehem in Churachandpur district is going smoothly. Three more sites are identified and handed over to the construction company. The construction of prefabricated houses at Keithelmanbi is going on in full swing, while works are also in progress at Saikul and Hengbung in Kangpokpi district."

"I'm glad to see the progress in construction of prefabricated houses at Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi District. These efforts are a positive step towards providing temporary housing solutions for the displaced people in all the violence affected areas of the state" the Chief Minister added in his post on X.
