Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur launched an attack on the Congress Government over the sacking of the IGMC workers in Shimla.
Jairam Thakur while talking to ANI said that "the Chief Minister in Himachal wants to run the government dictatorially. The Chief Minister is forgetting that dictatorship has no place in democratic systems." Jairam Thakur said that the security personnel who had been serving in IGMC for seven years were fired at once. Slamming the Himachal Pradesh Government he said, "Today, from the video that has surfaced of women security personnel crying for jobs, it can be estimated how much this government has worsened the situation in just ten months. If you don't want to provide employment then don't give employment but don't snatch away those who have employment." Jai Ram Thakur requested the Chief Minister to show some mercy to the disaster-affected people of the state. "In difficult situations, governments heal people's wounds, not bruise them", he said. The leader of the Opposition said that as soon as the disaster struck, the Chief Minister increased the prices of diesel by five rupees. After this, the crushers supplying construction materials like sand and gravel were closed. During the disaster, the Congress government increased cement prices twice within a month. Jairam Thakur said that "governments are meant for development. Election promises are meant to be fulfilled and not to stop the development that has already taken place. Congress pushed the state ten years back in ten months." He said that this kind of dictatorship will not continue, and the government should show a humane approach towards the security personnel of IGMC. Thakur said that the winter season had started in the state and so he demanded the Government provide work and relief to the disaster-affected people. Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Wednesday intensified its action against the 'Hire and Fire policy' of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Shimla that sacked 200 Covid warriors and 24 security personnel.
