Emphasizing that while the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka collapsed, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were unable to destabilize the government in Rajasthan.

"People appreciate our government's work...PM Modi and Amit Shah could not make the Rajasthan government collapse...The government (non-BJP)of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka collapsed," CM Gehlot said.

He further said, "If people would not have been with us, half of the MLAs would have left. People would take revenge from the BJP."

In 2019, the Congress-JDS coalition government collapsed, and in 2020, the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh also fell apart. The Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government met a similar fate in June last year when Shinde and 39 other MLAs revolted against the party leadership.

The Rajasthan Assembly comprises 200 constituencies that will be contested. Historically, the state has been politically dominated by the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Congress secured a victory in the last elections in 2018 with 101 seats.

The Election Commission of India on Wednesday changed the poll dates of Rajasthan Assembly elections from November 23 to November 25.

The counting of votes will take place on 3 December.

The party is yet to release its list of candidates while the opposition in the state- Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list fielding as many as 7 MPs in the assembly polls. (ANI)
