The Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, while addressing the esteemed gathering at the 13th convocation of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University in Bidar on Monday, emphasised the pivotal role of animal husbandry and fish production in sustaining livelihoods, particularly in India's agrarian landscape.

"Governor Gehlot highlighted the imperative of employing scientific methods to diagnose and treat ailments afflicting dairy farmers. He underscored the potential of leveraging herbal resources like lemon grass and asparagus to augment milk production and bolster immunity," according to a press release.

Additionally, he urged a proactive approach in addressing emerging challenges within the global farming community, emphasising the adaptability required in response to evolving agricultural systems, the release stated.

Recognising the symbiotic relationship between animal experts, farmers, and pastoralists, Governor Gehlot advocated for the establishment of a robust dairy industry through collaborative efforts and the exchange of cutting-edge scientific technologies.

He commended the significant strides made, propelling India to its status as the world's largest milk producer. Governor Gehlot further highlighted the university's commitment to agribusiness expansion and entrepreneurship, with a steadfast focus on augmenting agricultural productivity, elevating farmers' incomes, enhancing knowledge levels, sustainable resource utilisation, biodiversity conservation, and proactive climate change response.

The university achieves this through the cultivation of skilled and qualified graduates in veterinary, dairy, and fishery sciences via rigorous teaching, training, research, and innovation, as per the release.
