Union Minister Anurag Thakur expressed confidence that the BJP will perform remarkably well in the upcoming state assembly polls scheduled to be held in five states next month.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, "BJP will perform phenomenally in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh. BJP contests all elections strongly. You must have seen - be it the MPs, MLAs or Ministers, everyone is being fielded. Tickets are being given to candidates who can win so that the performance is good in the elections and again the government can be formed."

He also launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over women's safety.

"In Rajasthan every day there are 17 such cases where women are raped and murdered and there are 2 lakh pending cases in the last 5 years. Has Rahul Gandhi even visited Rajasthan twice and met any victims? They are such people who play policies over victims. We talk about giving equal rights to everyone and working for the upliftment of the poor. In the last five years 13 and a half crore people have come out of poverty due to various pro-poor schemes. The Congress is in pain as the poor is getting lot of benefits," he said.

The Election Commission on Monday, October 9, announced the schedule for assembly polls in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana.

Polls will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30. The counting of votes will take place on December 3 in all the states. (ANI)
