Guwahati International Airport (GIA) has witnessed the movement of over 610 non-scheduled flights (private or chartered flights) since April 2023, said a statement by GIA.

The airport witnessed 186 non-scheduled flight movements in April, followed by 114 in May, 72 in June, 46 in July, 47 in August and 144 in September, it added.

"It has repeatedly established the fact that LGBI Airport has a huge potential for growth. It is the most convenient and reliable mode of transportation from this region. The growth also indicates the emerging market in the Northeast region," chief airport officer Utpal Baruah said while speaking to ANI.

The movement of non-scheduled flights is leaping up due to various government, non-government, and business activities taking place in the city, it added.

Notably, Guwahati International Airport handled 4.6 lakh passengers in the month of September 23, which is 22 per cent higher than the previous year (pax- 358297).

On the other hand, Guwahati International Airport handled almost 4,000 ATMs (air traffic movement) in September 2023 which is 19 per cent higher than the previous year in September 2022 (ATM-3216). (ANI)
