Kolkata Metro Railway has launched a cleanliness drive at stations, trains and other properties. Launched on October 2, coinciding with the 154th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, the 'Special Campaign 3.0' will continue till October 31.

"During this campaign intensive cleaning and sanitization drives at stations, rakes, colonies, hospitals and other railway establishments were carried out. Metro staff made commuters aware of the importance of cleanliness and sought their cooperation to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness on the Metro premises. All the stations of Metro Railway, Blue Line, Green Line and Purple Line were covered under this campaign," the Kolkata Metro stated in a press release. As part of the initiative, a special cleanliness drive was conducted on Tuesday at Noapara, Netaji Bhavan, Sealdah and Sakher Bazar as well as at different stations of the Blue Line, Green Line and Purple Line.

Repeated announcements were made through the Public Address System to create awareness among passengers about the "importance of cleanliness in our lives". (ANI)
