In an initiative aimed at advancing the digital landscape of governance in India, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has rolled out State Capacity Building Workshops as part of the Digital India program.

These workshops, organized in partnership with knowledge partners, seek to unravel the potential of emerging technologies in enhancing service delivery and help shape policies and strategies to embrace the evolving digital era, read the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The inaugural State Capacity Building Workshop commenced in Maharashtra, running from October 9 to October 12, with the participation of more than 28 officials representing various departments of the state government.

Over the course of four intensive days, the workshop aims to acquaint policymakers and public officials with emerging technology initiatives, ensuring the seamless adoption and implementation of these advancements in the state.

The workshop's inauguration was presided over by Ms. Nima Arora, Director IT, along with senior officials from NeGD and the Wadhwani Institute of Technology and Policy (WITP), read the press release.

The event marked the beginning of a series of sessions designed to empower senior government officials in making informed decisions regarding the adoption of emerging technologies to address departmental requirements effectively.

This workshop serves as a platform to bring together subject matter experts from both the industry and the government for interactive sessions that delve into real-life case studies, read the press release.

Participants can also witness demonstrations of cutting-edge tools and gain insights into transforming ideas into proof of concepts, pilots, or full-fledged projects, read the press release.

Launched in August 2023, these workshops stand out for their collaborative approach, fostering a partnership between the government and industry consortium.

This collaboration aims to empower the government to harness emerging technologies effectively, ultimately enhancing the delivery of public services, reinforcing governance structures, and facilitating well-informed decision-making processes, read the release.

The success of the Maharashtra workshop sets the stage for similar initiatives in other regions, with upcoming workshops planned in Kerala, Ladakh, Telangana, and various other states.

These workshops not only signify a step towards technological advancement but also reaffirm the commitment of the Indian government to harness the full potential of emerging technologies for the benefit of its citizens. (ANI)
