Andhra CM Jagan Reddy meets students who returned from UN Sustainable Development Goals summit

Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy interacted with the government school students, who returned from the United States of America after attending the UN Sustainable Development Goals summit and various seminars in different institutions, at his camp office in Tadepalli on Monday, said a press release.

Students informed CM Reddy about their experiences in America and how their visit to the United Nations, IMF, World Bank, Columbia University, and other places changed their perspectives of the world, said the official statement.

The students also talked about their first flight experience that too abroad with the help of the Andhra Pradesh government, added the official statement.

According to the press release, the students further expressed their desire to pursue higher education at the world's top universities.

The Andhra CM, congratulating the students, said, "If you secure a seat in the top 350 universities/faculties in the world, the government of Andhra Pradesh will reimburse up to Rs 1.25 crore under the 'Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena' and you will not have to even a single rupee."

Directing the education officials in the meeting, the Chief Minister said, "We have to handhold them so that the dreams of the students who wish to become a CEO of a company are realized. Like TOEFL, the government must come up with plans to train the students in GRE and GMAT for free. Even the exam fees can be paid by the government."

He also directed the officials to appoint one young woman IAS officer to mentor the students for the next five years and guide them in all their future endeavours, said the official statement.

The students who visited America from September 15 to 27 were Sivalingamma, Chandralekha, Ganesh, Jyotsna, Rajeshwari, Gayatri, Rishita, Yogeeshwar, Sheikh Ammajan and Manaswini, added the official statement.

The parents of the students who went to America were also present to meet CM Reddy, said the official release. (ANI)
