Seven people were killed and many were injured in an explosion at a firecracker godown here on Monday, police said.
A massive fire broke out at around 10.20 pm after the explosion in Vetriyur Viragalur in Ariyalur district, they added. Ariyalur District Collector J Anne Mary Swarna and District Superintendent of Police (SP) K Feroze Khan Abdullah reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. As per police, the injured persons were rushed to a local government hospital and are undergoing treatment. An investigation into the matter is underway and further information is awaited. (ANI)
