Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), on Sunday interacted with the crew of INS Vagir on return from their extended operational deployment.

Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar complimented the crew on a successful mission. He was briefed on the highlights of the deployment by the Captain.

It may be recalled INS Vagir had also visited Fremantle, Australia and had participated in bilateral exercises with the RAN as part of this deployment.

INS Vagir is the fifth of the indigenously built Kalvari class submarines.

Earlier, in line with the Central Government and a first for the defence forces in the country, the Indian Navy has implemented the 360-degree appraisal system for the promotion of officers where they would be rated by their juniors too.

The central government has been using this system for promoting bureaucrats since 2015-16.

In a statement, the Indian Navy said that the women and men in whites are central to its 'SHIPS FIRST' approach and will continue to remain its greatest asset in the foreseeable future. (ANI)
