Delhi Environment Minister conducts surprise inspection of hotspots under anti-dust campaign

Rai on Saturday launched an anti-dust campaign to combat air pollution in Delhi.

The first phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in Delhi aimed at curbing dust pollution in the capital.

The Environment Minister Gopal said that the hotspot was inspected in view of the rising air-quality index (AQI).

During the inspection, officials of MCD, DPCC, Jal Board, DSIIDC, Delhi Traffic Police and PWD were present.

Officials present in the Wazirpur area said that the main factors of increasing pollution here are illegal parking, traffic congestion, construction work near the road etc; all concerned departments have been instructed to take immediate action.

The minister during the inspection gave instructions to spray water continuously in the morning and evening on the road.

Under the anti-dust campaign, 591 teams from 13 departments have been deployed for inspection all over Delhi.

The Environment Minister said that it is necessary to follow 14 rules related to construction dust control at all construction sites.

"Teams will take strict action if the rules are not followed," he added.

For this, instructions have been issued to the departments to constantly monitor the construction sites.

82 Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines, 530 water sprinklers and 258 mobile anti-smog guns have been deployed across Delhi to control dust pollution.

Rai also said that the Delhi government has started an anti-dust campaign in Delhi for the next month from today.

In the first phase, an anti-dust campaign will be run till November 7. For this campaign, 591 teams of 13 departments i.e DDA, MCD, DPCC, Jal Board, DSIIDC, PWD, Revenue, CPWD, NDMC, etc. have been deployed.

Gopal Rai further informed that this time special monitoring is being done on hotspots to reduce pollution.

Separate Action plans have been made for 13 hotspots and are being monitored continuously from the Green War Room. (ANI)
