Assam STF arrests six drug peddlers; seize 87 gm heroin in Kamrup

The sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam on Saturday apprehended six drug peddlers and seized 87.4 grams of heroin at the Sonapur area in Assam's Kamrup.

Based on secret information, an STF team launched an operation at the Amtola area under the Sonapur police station and apprehended six drug peddlers.

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF) told ANI that, during the operation, the team recovered and seized 30 plastic vials and three numbers of Tobacco boxes containing suspected heroin of 87.4 grams, nine numbers of empty vials, one empty tobacco box, five mobile phones, cash Rs 4,700 and four syringes in possession from the apprehended drug peddlers.

The apprehended drug peddlers were identified as Binud Medhi (32 years old), Marshal Suting (26 years old), Raj Thapa (26 years old), Bicky Lengdo (18 years old), Donbok (24 years old) and Sahara Begum (40 years old).

"Subsequently FIR lodged along with handed over of apprehended persons and seized articles to Sonapur police station for necessary action as per law," Partha Sarathi Mahanta said.

Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
