The Bombay High Court has extended the interim relief granted to Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA Rohit Pawar's company Baramati Agro Ltd till October 16.

The court extended the relief while granting time to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to file its reply to Pawar's petition.

Rohit Pawar, who is the grandnephew of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, is the CEO of Baramati Agro Ltd. The company works in the fields of animal and poultry feed manufacturing, sugar and ethanol manufacturing, co-generation of power, trading of agri-commodities, fruits and vegetables and dairy products.

Advocate Milind Sathe, appearing for the MPCB during the hearing on Friday, urged that the bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and Manjusha Deshpande hear them right away.

The bench was asking MPCB to file a reply while Sathe insisted that there was a large-scale violation on the part of the petitioners, which needed to be checked and thus the stay granted by the court should be vacated.

However, Advocates JP Sen and Akshay Shinde, appearing for Pawar's company Baramati Agro, submitted that there was no violation of the established norms.

The MPCB allegation was that sewage from the company was being dumped in nearby fields, which was not true, they argued.

Sathe agreed to file an affidavit in reply and the court posted the petition for further hearing on October 16.

On September 29, the High Court had granted temporary relief to Pawar's company by staying the operation of an order issued by the MPCB directing the closure of a part of Baramati Agro Ltd. (ANI)
