Odisha: Man arrested for pelting stones at running train

A 20-year-old man was arrested two days after he allegedly pelted stones at a train in Odisha's Balangir, an official statement said on Friday.

As per the official statement, on the basis of credible information, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday morning, conducted a raid near Dipika Bike Garage situated at Shankar Bhaji Chowk on Balangir-Bargarh highway in Odisha'a Balangir, where the accused worked as a helper.

After the accused arrived near the garage to open its shutter, the RPF team surrounded him.

On enquiry, the accused revealed that he was present near the railway track on Wednesday night when the incident took place.

The accused was identified as Akash Dang, a resident of Odisha'a Balangir.

He further informed the police that he had pelted stones at the train near the LC gate No.669/7-9 in a playful manner, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the accused was arrested and an FIR has been registered against him under the relevant sections of law.
