After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held protests in several parts of the country including the national capital following the arrest of its MP Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged liquor scam, Union Minister V Muraleedharan on Thursday attacked the AAP stating that the party is trying to hide its own shortcomings.

"All actions have been taken as per directions of the court in this case. The AAP leaders are trying to hide their own shortcomings and their involvement in corruption cases, so they are protesting against the BJP. The public is seeing what is happening in different states...." Muradheeran said.

Earlier on Wednesday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by the ED in the alleged liquor scam case, leading to a political firestorm across the nation.

The arrest came hours after the ED conducted raids at the residence of the AAP Rajya Sabha MP in connection with the case.

His was the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was arrested earlier.

Meanwhile, AAP workers held protests at several places in the country opposing Singh's arrest.

In the national capital, several senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party including Atishi Marlena, and Reena Gupta raised slogans against the BJP and demanded the release of AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

On the ongoing AAP protest in Delhi, Special CP Law and Order Dependra Pathak said, "It is a protest by the Aam Aadmi Party. The crowd is gathering gradually. Police are present here to maintain the law and order professionally. We are in communication with the organisers. We will make sure that law and order are maintained. We will try to contain the protestors.

"Speaking on Sanjay Singh's arrest and the raids by Central agencies, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai targeted the BJP and said, "This is going to continue till the 2024 elections unless the BJP loses". (ANI)
