Emphasizing that there is a need to destroy not only terrorism but also its entire ecosystem, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday directed all the agencies concerned to adopt such a ruthless approach that new terrorist organizations cannot be formed.

Shah's remarks came while addressing various agencies of states and the Centre at the two-day Anti-Terror Conference 2023 being hosted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

"We have to destroy not only terrorism but its entire ecosystem. All anti-terror agencies will have to adopt such a ruthless approach that new terrorist organizations cannot be formed," Shah said at the inaugural session of the conference which was attended by several dignitaries including Minister of State for Home Affairs Nishith Pramanik, Home Secretary, Director Intelligence Bureau, Director General NIA, as well as Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces, State Police Chiefs, and senior officials from the Union and State governments.

In his address, Shah also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central and State agencies have succeeded in firmly curbing all forms of terrorism in the country in the last nine years.

Noting that "We need to not only combat terrorism but also dismantle its entire ecosystem", the Union Home Minister said, "For this, we must work with the spirit of the Whole of Government and Team India."

Amit Shah said that the task of NIA, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Special Task Force (STF) should not be limited to the investigation but they should also think out of the box and take innovative measures to counter-terrorism.

The Home Minister said that the fight against terrorism requires "collaboration" from the global level to the grassroots, involving various states within the country, as well the international cooperation.

The Minister further said that the government led by PM Modi has taken a tough stand on all the challenges like crypto, hawala, terror-funding, organized crime syndicates, and narco-terror links, which has yielded very good results, but still a lot more is to be done.

He also said that "to deal with terrorism, the Center and the states, their agencies and inter-agency cooperation will have to think in vertical and horizontal ways."

On the occasion, the Home Minister also awarded medals to NIA officials for excellence in service. (ANI)
