A bullet-riddled body of a man was found in a field in a village in Haryana's Sonipat district yesterday evening, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeet Singh said, "We received information that a body is lying in a field. Immediately after reaching the spot we took up the search."

"We have found a 'kada' on which there is something engraved in Punjabi language. We are trying to identify the body and also coordinating with the Punjab Police. There are bullet injuries on the head and stomach area of the body," said the official.

Further information can be provided after the post-mortem reports, he added.

A probe is underway, and further details into the matter are awaited.

Earlier in an unrelated incident, a dead body of a 45-year-old man was found hanging from a tree in Delhi's Dwarka, said police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Harshawardhan told ANI that when police learned about the incident in the morning, a crime team was sent to the scene.

Prima facie, it appeared to be a case of murder, said the police. Also, a case has been registered at the Dwaraka North police station. (ANI)
