Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized the importance of transparency in public service and said that a clean environment is crucial for good health, and is the foundation for a strong and prosperous India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called upon people across the country to take part in a cleanliness drive on October 1 beginning at 10 am and said that Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts.

Saha while participating in the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' program on Sunday said, "Since taking office in 2014, PM Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission, which has been consistently implemented nationwide. On Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, the Prime Minister called for at least one hour of Shramdaan to foster a peaceful environment."

"Under his guidance, the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' program was carried out in various parts of the state on Sunday. In addition, the state government is dedicated to realizing 'Swachh Bharat, Swachh Tripura'. However, achieving a clean Tripura requires not only physical effort but also a shift in mindset", CM Saha added.

He also emphasized that a clean environment is essential for good health, and it is healthy citizens who will contribute to building a strong and prosperous India.

In addition to the Chief Minister, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and other officials were present at the program.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the Swach Bharat campaign.

The Prime Minister blended cleanliness with fitness as he met social media sensation Ankit Baiyanpuriya, who had started a 75-day hard challenge to imbibe the culture of fitness among the youth.

PM Modi has said Swachh Bharat is the collective responsibility of all citizens of the country and that public participation is very important in this direction. He had asked everyone to take an hour on Sunday at 10 am to maintain cleanliness and help build a brighter future for the country.

Leaders from across the country took part in the 'Shramdaan for Cleanliness' program as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign today. (ANI)
