Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Friday organized its fourth edition of Power Conclave in Shimla with a focus on promoting clean and green energy in Himachal Pradesh.

The day-long annual Power Conclave organized by CII was inaugurated by the Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.

On the occasion, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that there is a need to preserve the Himalayan ecology and environment.

"Increasing natural disasters are becoming a serious threat to the region. There is a need for the preservation of ecology along with the development of the region. In these kinds of conferences and conclaves, we all will have to come together and work collectively towards that," the Governor said.

"Himachal Pradesh has faced disaster in the recent past. Both government and stakeholders will have to work for the preservation of nature and environment in the region. Development will only be possible if the environment and nature are protected and preserved," he added.

CII Himachal Pradesh Vice Chairman Naresh Narula said that Himachal Pradesh has good potential for renewable energy.

"The industrialists are facing problems; we have planned and taken up the issues with the government. There is a need to build confidence between the government and the industry. We need ease of doing business in the region. Through this conclave we want the power sector to grow. It needs to be harnessed and we shall be working towards that," he said. (ANI)
