A half-burned body of a woman was found at a village in Jaipur district on Friday, police said.

"Villagers informed the police about the burned body of a woman this morning. We reached the spot and questioned the people in the vicinity. The woman is around 25 years old. Strict action will be taken against the accused at the earliest," said Bassi Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Phoolchand Meena.

A forensic team also reached Papar village where the incident occurred and started an investigation, he said.

The Opposition BJP criticised the Congress government in the state over the incident saying that "gut-wrenching incidents take place in the state every day."

"Rapes and gut-wrenching incidents take place in Rajasthan every day. A new Nirbhaya case is taking form. These have become the norm in Rajasthan under this regime. The Ramgarh incident is unfortunate. Incidents after incidents are taking place but the government stays silent...In a way, both crimes and criminals are being encouraged. The more it is condemned, the less it is," said Rajendra Rathore, Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan. (ANI)
