Flagged off by PM Modi, Vande Bharat Express from Tirunelveli reaches Chennai

The Tirunelveli-Chennai Vande Bharat Express train, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually, reached Chennai Railway Station on Sunday.

The Indian-built train was among the nine Vande Bharat Express, which were flagged off by the Prime Minister on Sunday.

People waited for the semi-high-speed train with roses and placards of PM Modi in their hands on the platform.

A passenger, who was onboard the Tirunelveli-Chennai Vande Bharat's maiden journey, thanked PM Modi and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

"People think that Vande Bharat is luxury, but a middle-class person can also aboard it. I would thank PM Modi and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji for bringing this new upgradation of the Indian Railway. It's not for the students but for all people," the passenger and a student of IIT-Tirupati said.

Apart from the Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai, the other new trains flagged off on Sunday, are Kasargod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express, UdaipurJaipur Vande Bharat Express, Howrah-Patna Vande Bharat Express, HyderabadBengaluru Vande Bharat Express, VijayawadaChennai (via Renigunta) Vande Bharat Express, Rourkela-BhubaneswarPuri Vande Bharat Express, RanchiHowrah Vande Bharat Express and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express.

The Vande Bharat train is an initiative of the government under PM Modi's vision of 'Make in India'. (ANI)
