Assam: Rain causes waterlogging in Guwahati; predicts heavy rainfall till Sept 24

Moderate rain lashed Guwahati on Thursday resulting in waterlogging on roads in some parts of the capital city of Assam.

Commuters and pedestrians have faced massive problems due to continuous rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Assam and other parts of the North Eastern region with rainfall predicting heavy rainfall in some parts of the region till September 24.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Borjhar, Guwahati has issued an orange alert for some districts of Assam indicating thunder with heavy rainfall.

Stating the current meteorological condition, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati said, "Moisture incursion due to strong low-level Southerly/Southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India is very likely to continue for the next 3-4 days. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall and Thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places is likely to occur over Assam during the next 24 hours and heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places during the subsequent 48 hours."
