Uttar Pradesh: 23 year old girl shot dead by friend, arrested

A 23-year-old college student was shot dead during a late-night party at Dayal Residency in Lucknow, police officials said.

The girl has been identified as Nishtha, a student of Bcom student at BBD College.

The incident took place near the Chinhat police station area.

After the College's Ganesh Chaturthi program was over, the victim with her friend Aditya Pathak went to Dayal Residency to attend a house party where "liquor" was also being served, said police.

"There was a liquor party in the house late at night, a liquor bottle was also recovered from the kitchen of the house. Many youths were present in the house late at night during the party in which the girl was shot," police added.

After the incident, the girl was taken to the hospital and family members of the victim were also informed.

"On late Thursday night, police received information from Lohia Hospital that a girl named Nishtha had been admitted," said ADCP East Ali Abbas.

A case has been registered under section 302. The accused Aditya Pathak has been arrested and further investigation into the matter is underway, said police (ANI)
