The two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad concluded on Sunday, with party leaders expressing optimism about receiving a "clear mandate" in the upcoming assembly elections in five states.

Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana are set to go to polls anytime later this year.

The party also discussed the preparedness of its organization for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which as it seems are due in April-May 2024.

Congress chief of all poll-bound States has given presentations during the meeting about their strategy and preparations, sources said.

The Congress said the party is fully ready for the battle ahead and it is confident that the people are wanting change.

We will fulfill their expectations of law and order, freedom, social and economic justice, equality and equity, the party took a resolution during the meeting.

Also, the Congress party has yet again raised their demand for a greater reservation for women in legislative roles, a day ahead of the week-long special session of Parliament.

In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the Congress Working Committee demands that the Womens Reservation Bill must be passed during the special session of Parliament.

Bills introduced/ passed in Rajya Sabha do not lapse. Women's Reservation Bill is still very much active. The Congress party has for the past nine years been demanding that the Women's Reservation Bill already passed by the Rajya Sabha should now get passed by the Lok Sabha as well, Jairma Ramesh wrote on X.
