On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 73rd birthday on Sunday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Minister of State for Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, flagged off the 'PM Skill Run' in Nagpur.

Thousands of students participated in 'PM skill run' event held to celebrate the government's skill development programme for the people that have helped lakhs of youth get employment.

The skill development programme was launched by the Centre in 2015 under the name - Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) or Pradhan Mantri Youth Training Program.

"PM Modi is not only an inspiration for the people of India; he is also an inspiration for the world. Today, the world views him as a global leader who can bring change. The Skill Department for the Youth was started by PM Modi in 2015, and today, on PM Modi's birthday, we all have gathered here to flag off the 'Skill Run' event," Fadnavis said.

"More than 5 lakh youth in the ITI sector from across Maharashtra are participating in the PM Skill scheme. In the last few years, under PM's Rozgar Mela, we gave employment to over 3 lakh people, and our next target is to provide jobs to more than 5 lakh youth. We are revamping all the ITIs in Maharashtra and working towards creating employment opportunities outside Maharashtra," he said.

Meanwhile, wishes poured in from various political leaders across party lines for Prime Minister.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his wishes to PM Modi and called him "the architect of the new India", adding that he has laid a strong foundation for a grand and self-reliant India on the basis of the ancient heritage of our country. BJP chief JP Nadda lauded PM Modi as the world's most popular leader and said that PM Modi gave concrete shape to the global prestige of Indian culture and the universal progress of the nation.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were among others, extended their greetings to PM Modi on his birthday. (ANI)
