Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took a dig at the Congress saying that he was surprised and a little saddened to see that the party has not used former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh's picture in its posters in in Madhya Pradesh.

"I am surprised and a little sad that Congress has removed the face of Digvijaya Singh from its posters," the Civil Aviation Minister said on Saturday, speaking to ANI.

"In the rally there are faces of every Congress leader on their posters except Digvijaya Singh," Scindia added.

Slamming the Congress, Scindia said, "Is this the respect Congress is giving to its two-term Chief Minister that they have removed him from their posters? This is shocking. This is the problem of the Congress party."

Digvijaya Singh had served as the 14th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for two terms from 1993 to 2003.

Speaking on the personal equations shared by Scindia with Congress veterans Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath, he said, "My relations with both of them (Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath) were good earlier too. Even today, I respect them. In politics, there can be differences, our ideologies can be different but the Scindia family has never thought of making personal comments on them."

Jyotiraditya Scindia was with the Congress party till 2020 and was a Minister in the Kamal Nath cabinet in Madhya Pradesh before he led a coup against his own government. He switched sides to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with a bunch of MLAs thereby bringing down the Congress government in the state and making way for the Digvijaya Singh led BJP government in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh will go to polls in November this year. The state will witness a direct contest between the ruling BJP and the Congress; the results will set the tone for the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
