Singer Osman Mir thankful to PM Modi for selecting his song for G20 dinner

Singer Osman Mir whose song was played at the gala dinner for world leaders attending the G20 Summit said it was a happy moment as Gujarati culture and folk music was displayed on such a huge stage.

World leaders at the G20 summit savoured India's musical heritage during the dinner hosted for them on Saturday by President Murmu. The musical extravaganza showcased a blend of classical and contemporary music at Bharat Mandapam, venue of the G20 Summit.

"I am extremely thankful to PM Modi for selecting my song and this is a very happy moment for me that our Gujarati culture and our folk music has been displayed on such a huge stage. This was a surprise and a gift for me to know that my song would be played in front of PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu," Mir told ANI.

Musical performances from 78 artists showcased Indias rich musical heritage using Hindustani, Carnatic, and folk instruments at the G20 ceremonial dinner hosted by President Murmu.

The musical arrangements encompassed the usage of various rare instruments showcasing the countrys unparalleled and unique musical heritage.

Instruments included Sursingar, Mohan Veena, Jaltarang, Jodiya Pawa, Dhangali, Dilruba, Sarangi, Kamaicha, Matta Kokila Veena, Naltarang, Tungbuk, Pakhawaj, Rabab, Ravanhattha, Thal Dana, Rudra Veena, among others.

A total of 170 guests, including all the chief ministers of the Indian states were on the list of special invitees to Saturdays G20 dinner.

The event's host, President Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu joined the dinner party.

The countries taking part in the G20 Summit include Nigeria, Argentina, Italy, the African Union (represented by Comoros), and South Africa. Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Japan Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Egypt, Australia, the United States, Canada, China, UAE, Brazil, Indonesia, Turkey Spain, Germany, France, Mauritius, the European Union, and Singapore.
