Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington find themselves facing every parent's worst nightmare in the first look at their upcoming thriller 'Animals', which is set to arrive in select theatres and on Netflix on October 9.
Netflix has released the first teaser for the film, giving a glimpse into the tense story without revealing too much. Affleck plays a politician whose seemingly happy family life with his wife, played by Washington, takes a dark turn after their son is kidnapped. According to People, the teaser, which has no dialogue, opens with Affleck and Washington's characters living a quiet life with their son, played by Christopher Woodley. The mood changes when a phone starts ringing, with the parents soon seen reacting to news that their son has been taken. Steven Yeun also makes an appearance in the teaser, seemingly playing an assistant to Affleck's character. Gillian Anderson is seen as someone connected to the investigation that follows the kidnapping. As they struggle to bring him home, they are forced to make choices that could change their lives. Affleck has taken on several roles for the film. Apart from playing the lead, he has directed the thriller and co-written its script with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. He is also producing the film alongside his longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon and producer Luciana Damon. 'Animals' is the latest project from Affleck and Damon's production company Artists Equity. The company previously worked with Netflix on the thriller 'The Rip', which starred Affleck, Damon and Yeun.
