From turntables to algorithms, the world of electronic music is evolving, and Nucleya is at the forefront of the change.
Ahead of his performance at The MIX, Mumbai Indians' first-of-its-kind fan experiential festival produced with BookMyShow Live, the EDM pioneer shared with ANI how artificial intelligence is reshaping creativity in India's music scene. The festival, running from March 21 to 22, promises a unique blend of cricket, music, fashion, food, and fan expression under one roof. Reflecting on the evolution of EDM in India, Nucleya said AI is opening up new possibilities for artists. "AI will force people to be more creative and imaginative. AI is trained on music humans made, and with the right prompts, it can generate incredible song ideas. I use AI mostly to throw ideas at me that I can further develop," he explained. Drawing parallels to past innovations, he added, "This evolution reminds me of when computers first entered music-making, you didn't have to be a musician to make music. Earlier, bands would spend months writing, recording, and touring. Then came hip-hop and sampling, which taught me a lot about creating music. Later, sample banks became available, and now AI can make samples instantly. Creativity, imagination, and uniqueness remain individualistic, but AI just gives more tools to experiment." On collaborations, Nucleya emphasized working with like-minded artists over pre-established names. "Ten years ago, I might have had a list, but now I prefer working with people willing to go to any creative extent to build a song. That process is far more rewarding than working with big names," he said. The MIX festival promises an immersive experience for fans, combining live performances, interactive elements, and a celebration of culture and self-expression. (ANI)
