Amid reports of Punjabi actor-singer Gippy Grewal's security being withdrawn, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Pawan Kumar Tinu took a dig at Grewal for his political intervention and said that singers need to focus on their singing and should not engage in politics.

While speaking to the media, Tinu stated, "Singers need to focus on their singing and should not engage in politics," further adding that artists are loved by everyone and thus must not engage in political matters.

The response comes in the wake of reports suggesting the security provided to the Punjab actor has been withdrawn, drawing strong reactions from the state's political sphere.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also reacted to the development and said, "I have learned that Gippy Grewal's security has been withdrawn. The police officials should disclose the basis for this withdrawal. They should also disclose the basis for providing security in the first place. And if something bad happens to him tomorrow, they should take responsibility for it too."

Prior to that, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal also criticised the move, in a long X post.

"I have come across reports that the security cover of prominent actor/singer @GippyGrewal has been withdrawn after he met me at my residence in Badal village recently. Reports also suggest that the security cover of another prominent artist, @JordanSandhu94, has been withdrawn too. It is well known to everyone that these talented Punjabi singers and actors face grave threats from gangsters and extortionists. The police security provided to these artists is being withdrawn on the whims and fancies of the CM @BhagwantMann," he wrote.

Condemning such exercises, Badal sought to take up the matter with the Punjab Governor as well. (ANI)
