Singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus was honoured with the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award at the 37th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival film awards gala for her contribution to James Cameron's film 'Avatar: Fire and Ash', as reported by People.

Cyrus received the award for co-writing the song "Dream As One," which plays over the end credits of the third installment of the Avatar franchise. The song was co-written with Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and composer Simon Franglen.

While accepting the honour, Cyrus jokingly remarked onstage that while the Avatar team had worked on the film for 16 years, she had been involved "for like a month" but still attended the same award events, drawing laughter from the audience.

The award was presented to her by Avatar actor Jack Champion. An orchestra played a brief segment of "Dream As One" as Cyrus took the stage, which she praised as "amazing," as reported by People.

In her speech, Cyrus spoke about reinvention and storytelling in music, calling her collaboration on Avatar: Fire and Ash a "joy of a lifetime." She also thanked the film's team for being welcoming, adding humorously that she was "totally backpacking off" their work.

The singer also described the Palm Springs gala as a sophisticated event, joking about the lack of drag queens and saying she would visit a local venue afterward.

Cyrus previously said the song was inspired by themes of unity and resilience, drawing from her personal experience rebuilding her Malibu home after the 2018 wildfires.

Other honorees at the festival included Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried, Michael B Jordan and Adam Sandler, as reported by People.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is currently playing in theatres. (ANI)
