Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) | March 23, 2025 7:13:20 PM IST
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha inaugurated Tawi Filmotsva 2025 today. It is a mega short film festival in Jammu which is dedicated to promoting local artists and boosting the film industry in Jammu and Kashmir.

Organised by the J&K Cine Association, Tawi Filmotsva will screen 40 short films and documentaries which will be judged by a top-tier jury. Winners in different categories will be awarded significant cash prizes after the competition.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor extended his felicitations to the organisers, participating filmmakers, and everyone associated with the short film festival.

LG called upon the local talent to maintain a balance between entertainment and social concern. In his speech, he also asked people to use cinema as a medium for the benefit of society and social transformation.

"Cinema is an effective medium of education and a powerful agent of social change. I want our local talent to maintain a balance between entertainment and social concern and use this powerful medium for the benefit of society and social transformation," LG Manoj Sinha said.

He also highlighted the technological advancements that have helped budding filmmakers and artists of J&K to showcase the state's rich and varied heritage.

LG Governor called upon the young filmmakers to nurture their creativity to eliminate social evils like drug addiction.

"I want our youth to nurture this creativity to eliminate social evils like drug addiction from society and use the creative talents for good deeds that will change the lives of others. I want our youth to help the government in reaching out to the disadvantaged and ensure their life of dignity". said LG Manoj Sinha at Tawi Filmotsva 2025.

Sudesh Kumar Verma, President of J&K Cine Association acknowledged the importance of such film festivals for filmmakers in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Talent is talent, we used to have no chance to show it. So we have provided this platform so that the common public can get a place for artists and others so that they can show themselves. Apart from this, it also awakens the government that like we are providing platforms, you too have some help because films are made with money and we have a lot of financial constraints. If we provide financial support to artists, then our film policy will work very well and our artists will also get good work." said Sudesh Kumar Verma.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor released a brochure of 'Tawi Filmotsva'. The event was also attended by renowned artists, filmmakers and members of J&K Cine Association. (ANI)
