Your passion for your craft and the warmth you bring to everyone around you are truly special. Here's to celebrating your many achievements and I'm especially looking forward to your next directorial venture, Tanvi the great! I'm so proud of you, my friend."

Anupam Kher made his debut in Mahesh Bhatt's 1984 film 'Saaransh'.

On this big day, he expressed his gratitude to Mahesh Bhatt and Rajshri Films for giving him his first opportunity and also thanked the audience for their continuous support and love.

Recalling his journey in the industry, Kher wrote, "40 YEARS IN CINEMA AND STILL ROCKING: My first film #Saaransh released today on 25th May, 1984. My directorial film #TanviTheGreat is my 541st film. God, my producers, directors and my AUDIENCES have been kind and generous to me. I have celebrated my successes and failures with equal humility and gratitude!"

He has also appeared in many acclaimed international films such as the Golden Globe-nominated 'Bend It Like Beckham', Ang Lee's Golden Lion-winning 'Lust, Caution' and David O. Russell's Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook.

Kher added that his journey still continues and he is still full of enthusiasm and passion as he was 40 years back. Kher is also grateful to Mahesh Bhatt for giving him an opportunity to be part of 'Saaransh'. Kher played the lead role of BV Pradhan, a 65-year-old man in the film. It was released on May 25, 1984.

"I am still travelling on this path of creative journey with the same sense of wonder as I had 40Years back. Thank #MaheshBhatt Saab and @rajshrifilms for giving me my first opportunity! I don't believe in looking back so I have not looked back since 25th May, 1984. There is so much to do. I am not a #Legend or a #Thespian or a #Veteran YET. I am a new comer every single day. Years just get added since there is Callender by default. Thank you for your continuous love, support and blessings!.....#40YearsOfAnupam #Saaransh #TanviTheGreat #Cinema"
