Chhattisgarh strengthens PM GatiShakti implementation with two key MoUs signed with the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N) and the National Logistics Data Services Ltd (NLDSL).

The agreements aim to enhance the state's infrastructure planning and development by using geospatial technology and integrated logistics data.

The signing took place during the PM GatiShakti & LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop held in Raipur. The event was jointly organised by the Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh; and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. Officials from DPIIT, NLDSL, and participating states attended the session to examine the operationalisation and broader application of PM GatiShakti and LEADS initiatives.

Highlighting the role of the initiative, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted the structural changes in state-level infrastructure planning.

"PM GatiShakti is strengthening data-driven decision-making in Chhattisgarh, enabling us to plan infrastructure more effectively, identify connectivity and logistics gaps, and support better-aligned industrial development," said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. "This is helping create stronger conditions for investment and sustainable economic growth."

Chhattisgarh has operationalised PM GatiShakti by onboarding more than 35 departments to the platform. The state mapped 41 mandatory layers alongside over 600 additional data layers, formulating 45 use cases and 30 tools for planning processes.

Various administrative branches currently deploy the platform for departmental operations. Authorities use GIS-based identification of road black spots to plan safety measures, while geospatial records help locate villages lacking banking infrastructure and assist in route optimisation for buses operating under MMGBY.

The state's Annual Action Plan supports over 80 projects. Infrastructure developments also include 600 mobile towers installed to upgrade connectivity at tourist sites, along with 700 acres allocated in Nava Raipur under the Bhavya Scheme.

In performance metrics, DPIIT recognised Chhattisgarh as a high performer among landlocked states in the LEADS 2025 assessment. Complementing this framework, the state's Forest Department introduced the 'Gaj Sanket' mobile application, using location-based datasets to manage and mitigate human-elephant conflict.

Digital planning mechanisms remain anchored in the Chhattisgarh GEO Portal developed by CHiPS. The system offers administrative tools, including a Department GIS Scorecard, predictive evaluations for infrastructure gaps, an automated GIS-enabled No Objection Certificate (NOC) system, and AI-driven planning modules.

State authorities now focus on combining geospatial and supply-chain logistics records with upcoming industrial programmes. Future initiatives include setting up integrated logistics facilities and cargo aggregation hubs along the Raipur-Bhilai-Durg industrial corridor. (ANI)
