Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 13: Siemens Limited has received an order of approximately INR 263 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, for overhead rail electrification technologies for the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line project in Uttarakhand. The scope of the project includes rigid overhead catenary systems (ROCS) and flexible overhead catenary systems (FOCS) across tunnels, bridges, open routes, yards and associated infrastructure over a project stretch of approximately 102.5 track kilometers.

The Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line forms part of the strategically important Char Dham connectivity corridor and is one of Indian Railways' key infrastructure projects in the Himalayan region. The project is expected to improve all-weather connectivity, support regional economic development, enhance mobility for residents and visitors, and provide a more reliable transportation alternative in a terrain that is often impacted by weather-related disruptions.

Rajeev Joisar, Chief Executive Officer, Mobility Business, Siemens Limited, said, "We are proud to partner with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for this prestigious project in Uttarakhand. The Rishikesh-Karnaprayag corridor represents a significant step towards enhancing sustainable and reliable connectivity in one of India's most challenging terrains. This order further reinforces Siemens' leadership in advanced rail electrification technologies and builds on our successful track record of delivering rigid overhead catenary systems for landmark railway projects across the country. Through innovative and energy-efficient technologies, we remain committed to supporting India's vision for modern, sustainable transportation infrastructure."
