Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said he was delighted to see the work done by Indian startups. Talking to reporters at Startup Mahakumbh, he equated the innovations of the domestic startups to that of music to ears.

"The flavour that I got, the taste of the innovative work that our young men and women have created through their sheer tenacity, hard work, spirit of inquiry, research, and innovation, is music to ears," Minister Goyal told reporters on Day 2 of Startup Mahakumbh.

Piyush Goyal walked through some of the startups on display at the second edition of the flagship startup show.

"Truly have been a delight, and this is the foundation on which I am confident. India will be in a very big way into the world of innovation, will make our presence at the global stage on product of deep significance whether its deep tech, AI machine learning, how can we do data analytics smarter and better," he added.

He added that visiting Startup Mahakumbh was an experience of a lifetime. He lauded the organisers' efforts.

"I am grateful to the organizer of this Mahakumbh, and it took a lot of patience, affection, and effort to make such a wonderful platform for the youngsters. I go back extremely satisfied with the work done by our young startups and very confident that my message to the startups has been received well," the Union minister added.

On Thursday, while inaugurating the Startup Mahakumbh, the Commerce Minister touched on the nature and scope of Indian startups and urged them to think of big, innovative solutions.

The Union Minister said that Indian startups need to be willing to evolve and not be afraid of competition.

"We must learn (from other countries). We must be willing to evolve, we have to be able to learn, and we want to aspire to be bigger and better and bolder. And we should not shy of the competition," he had said.

Speaking of the nature of startups India is coming up with, he said India needs to raise the bar and help prepare for the future of the nation.

"We need to invest heavily to become self-reliant, building chips, AI models which will prepare the nation for the future," he said.

On January 16, 2025, India marked nine years of Startup India, a transformative journey that began in 2016.
