Iran vows to continue nuclear program
Tehran | December 03, 2007 12:01:13 AM IST

Iran says more sanctions won't slow its uranium enrichment program, it was reported Sunday.

If these powers are trying to deprive Iran of its rights, resolutions and sanctions will be fruitless,Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said in Tehran Sunday, Alalam Satellite TV reported.

Members of the United Nations Security Council met in Paris Saturday to discuss new international sanctions if Iraq continued to develop an atomic program. But a vote on sanctions was postponed because Russia's envoy was unable to attend the meeting.

Russia and China, which have strong trading partnerships with Iran, have opposed sanctions proposed by France, Britain and the United States.
