A team of Assam Police today arrested three persons from bordering location of Nabadwip Chandra Nagar village under Sonamura police of Sepahijala district in a pre dawn raid in the village on the specific information of their involvement in human trafficking racket.
Police said, in a joint raid of Tripura and Assam police Sahajahan Miah Chowdhury, Faruk Chowdhury and Suman Chowdhury of the same village were detained from their respective houses.
A team of Assam police headed by officer in-charge of Bajaricherra police station of Karimganj district of south Assam arrived at Sonamura yesterday with the specific input of the racket operating by some people including trio in the bordering areas of West Tripura.
According to police, about a month ago Assam police had traced a corridor in Tripura across Indo-Bangladesh border through which the suspected Bangladeshi nationals snaked into Indian Territory with the help of the racket.
Earlier, two days after the Independence Day, six had suspected youths from Bangladesh got into India through Sonamura while proceeding to Guwahati by bus Assam police arrested them from Churaibari in Karimganj district of South Assam on Aug 19 last.
They have been identified as Amir Hossen (29), Abdul Sabbur (25), Jalal Ahmed (55), Abdul Ahad (25), Rashid Ahmed (24) and Nurul Amin (19). During interrogation, they confessed that they migrated from Mayanmar and settled in Cox Bazar of Bangladesh. They were travelling to Guwahati from where they were about to go to Siliguri and then finally to Nepal in search of job. After arrest they were handed over to Bazari Cherra police Station.
As part of investigation, he took two of them to Sonamura from Karimganj to trace out the corridor of infiltration and their Jehadi link. However, in later stage of investigation an Indian link has been identified where trio arrested today were allegedly involved, police added. UNI XC-BB AKM
