Agriculture Roadmap to be ready by the end of next month

Bihar Agriculture Minister Dr Prem Kumar today said the final shape to third Agriculture Roadmap would be given by the end of next month. After assuming the charge of state Agriculture Minister, Dr Kumar told newspersons here that the first priority of his department would be to give final shape to the third agriculture roadmap, which would be effective till 2022.

He said under the third agriculture roadmap, special focus had been given to organic farming by developing organic corridor.

Dr Kumar said the organic farming would be encouraged in riverine belts of areas and also selected villages located on both sides of national highways and state highways. He said the organic corridor would be developed in villages located in the riverine belt of Ganga river from Patna to Bhagalpur under 'Diara Development Project'. Similarly, organic corridor would be developed in villages located on both sides of national highway and state highway from Daniayawa to Biharsharif under the 'Traditional Agriculture Development Project'.

These organic corridors would be developed in the first phase during 2017-18. He said for developing organic farming in the state, the process for selection of villages in Patna, Nalanda, Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai and Begusarai districts was on. UNI DH BM
