10K Intercity Run from September

The first edition of the 10K INTENCITY RUN will be held between September this year and February next year across 10 cities in India, the organisers said here today.

The announcement was made at an event in presence of Olympian Rachita Mistry by Anand Menezes, ex-Olympian and founder Andy Event Management, which is organising the run. The run will be in three categories - 10 km, 5 km and 2 km and prizes worth Rs 50 lakh will be given.

The run will begin from Pune on September 10 and will be followed by Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Vadodara, Delhi and will conclude in Goa on February 11 next year.

Sports personalities like Anju Bobby George, (Olympian, Gold Medalist), Dhanraj Pillay, (Padmashri, Olympian, Khel Ratna Award and Arjun Awardee), Lalita Babar,(Olympian and Arjun Awardee), Narsingh Yadav, (Wrestler and Arjun Awardee) have extended their support for this run.

Speaking on the occasion, Anand Menezes, Ex-Olympian, Founder & Director, Andy Event Management said,"We want to reach out to the masses at large and create awareness of a Green, Clean and Healthy India.This initiative will also serve one of our core ideologies which is to give back to sportspersons of India. Through the support of the Indian Olympians Association (An association of former Olympians), we will be donating a part of the money generated to former and current Olympians along with aspiring sportspersons so that theycanplough money back in creating a sound infrastructure system which will not only inspire existing sportspersons but also create future Olympians of our country.''

The organisers had earlier announced that Olympian Anju Bobby George and hockey legend Dhanraj Pillay, athlete Lalita Navarro would remain present today. However, they could not make it citing "personal reasons".UNI JM NV KU ADG 1804
