Goa CM inaugurates Freedom Fighters Gallery

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar inaugurated the Freedom Fighter's Gallery at Reis Magos Fort today.

The Gallery displays commemoratives and contribution of Freedom Fighters during the freedom struggle.

The function was organised by Directorate of Archives and Archaeology, in collaboration with Reis Magos Heritage Society.

Minister for Archives and Archaeology Dayanand Mandrekar, Prabhakar Vithal Prabhu Sinari and Shradha Savoikar, both Freedom Fighters, were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Parsekar said the Government is making all efforts to give a facelift to forts, so as restore the historic monuments for posterity of keeping the legacy of freedom struggle alive and also to attract tourists.

The Government will preserve such historic places, which will also be useful for students as a study centre, he remarked.

He informed that the gallery has a display of 123 freedom Fighters photos and their history along with the glimpses during freedom movement. While restoring the historic monument Government will try to maintain its originality, he pointed.

Remembering the freedom fighters, he said it was they who made it possible for us to live in dignity and enjoys the fruits of freedom. He lauded and appealed to the people irrespective of caste creed religious to take an oath to remain united for the progress of State and nation.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Archives and Archaeology Dayanand Mandrekar said Government through the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology will make all attempts to preserve and restore all the forts in the state.

Sanisha Toraskar, ZP Member and Chairperson Reis Magos Heritage Society were also present on the occasion.
